It is with great sadness that we share some personal news from the band. A close family member of Joey’s is facing a very serious illness. As a result, he and John have made the difficult decision to cancel all upcoming Calexico performances so he can be present to focus on his family’s health.

The cancellations include Calexico’s featured appearance as part of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra’s holiday shows on December 14 and 15, and their spring 2026 European tour. The European headline shows will be refunded at point of purchase. 

The TSO holiday shows will go on as planned, with our dear friends Orkesta Mendoza replacing Calexico, and it’s sure to be a wonderful evening of music.

This was not an easy decision, but it is unquestionably the right one. Nothing matters more than showing up for the people we love. Joey is deeply grateful for your support and patience, and the band looks forward to playing for you again once they’re back on the road.

Réputé pour son « americana interculturelle et expansive », Calexico a passé les trois dernières décennies à explorer les frontières musicales du sud-ouest américain, inspirant des morceaux cinématographiques uniques, aussi mystérieux et magnifiques que les paysages désertiques arides qui les ont inspirés.

Fondé à Tucson, en Arizona, par le guitariste/chanteur Joey Burns et le batteur John Convertino, Calexico s'est fait connaître dans les années 90 grâce à une série d'albums qui estompaient les frontières entre leurs racines, le rock et les influences latino-américaines, avec « Feast of Wire » comme percée commerciale.

En 2026, ils approfondissent leur lien avec le public belge avec un concert au Cirque royal, où ils ont déjà laissé des traces légendaires.
